I Lost 82% of Value on My First Trade with IVYBOT Plus Fees Updated 4 Newbies
Hello, Thanks for stopping by
I pulled my original post which was a strong complaint, and offer this replacement post as As A Constructive Update for my fellow Forex newbies and those that are watching the Ivybot Program.
I first reported my problem 22 Aug 2009 to Ivybot support who pro-ported to have a personal interest in all questions since this program was a new Affiliate Launch for them. I was down about 55-56% at that time, and ended up with a 82% percent loss by the time the bot shut down.
After several followups to support I finally receive a form response on 29 Aug which read like this:
We’re very sorry you are having difficulty. We are seeing much better results than this. Please make sure you are using a recommended broker and that you are using default settings. We are seeing results much like at this site…

Thanks,
Ivybot team
Of course, I felt that this form response was less than humane and certainly lacked the personal touch that a client who had just lost 82% of his portfolio should have received. I guess the Ivy League School’s don’t teach customer relations or basic business. After some more followup from me which included a constructive review and evaluation of their site; the errors of omission, the conflict between their videos and printed matter, etc., Guess what after all my efforts, I finally got another reply:
We’re very sorry you are having difficulty. We are seeing much better results than this. Please make sure you are using a recommended broker and that you are using default settings. We are seeing results much like at this site…

I would have expected something like, Thanks for your input, we are working it, we will get back to you soon, etc.
Fundamentally, I just wanted to know what went wrong; my IVYBOTS are properly configured, per the video. and once set up Just Walk Away which they hype several times on their site. My mistake – I did walk away, expecting that the sytem would take care of me, and protect me against such anextrordinary loss.
I did find an article on the web saying that Ivybot doesn’t use a Stop Loss and upon pressing Ivybot, they claim they have an internal trigger that doesn’t show on the order. I guess the trigger didn’t work in my case. Since this experience, I don’t walk away and have watched other Ivy trades that were going bad, and then were cut short. This has left me with the impression that this is a manual Close Order rather than the so-called robot doing it thing. Manual must have been asleep at the switch on my 1st order.
Lessons/Tips
- Ivybots tale of set it up and Just Walk Away – doesn’t work for me and shouldn’t for you
- Leave the computer and and let the bot do its thing – doesn’t work for me either. Obviously, after taking such a loss on my first trade; I have been trying to dig my way out of the hole. The other day, I finally reduced my loss to something less than 50% (sounds a little funny, but going from 82% down to 50% down is a reduced loss). I left the computer and Ivybot running and retired for the night. The next morning, I found the Ivy has struck during the night on another bad trade (a buy, instead of a sell), and I had lost 56 pips before it shut itself down. Talk about losing money while you sleep, and another DONT Just Walk Away lesson.
- Take your time to learn about the platform, about orders. charts, etc. For those of you are still laughing, your correct, I didn’t know I would right click on the order number and close it or modify it. A good a first trade mistake and a hard lesson.
- The experts will tell you to use a demo account, practice until you are profitable for most of the time, before going live . I am sure that is great advise for learning the platform, orders and charts. Too bad, I am from the old sch0ol of OJT (On the Job Training). I guess I like my knuckles cracked a few times, and when your live you pay more attention – least I do now. It is a job, not a hobby; it real money not play money.
- Set up your trades and decide to take your profits and/or losses or let them ride; before you decide to take a meal break. I lost money just going to the toilet, but at least I was a bit relieved, while my wallet was relieved of some cash.
- If you leave the computer running as I said before, then Ivy can get you while your are gone. We all would like to believe a bad trade will be offset by a good one. I am still waiting the really good one, up 206 pips (EURJPY) or 56 pips (USDJPY).
- I have not done this for long, but my experience so far says watch any pair that includes JPY, and prepared to cut it short. (right click the order)
- Read and Listen, Join Forex Forums. etc. One misspoken word or a decision can rile the markets; recently the Sterling markets and most recently, I am still trying to recover from the Sept 29-1Oct AUDUSD market which went rapidly north of nearly every expert and bot order to SELL
- Hype: Does it make sense, use your gut and your brain. Ivybot should put out some Affiliate Guidelines for advertising; the the Ivybot program that never looses, or the most successful bot available What an insult to the professionals who have been doing this for years and years, who may have their own bots or strategies. Where is the track record for Ivybot?? For that matter, even the Ivybot Program oversells itself.
- Let us not forget, Ivybot needs a support system makeover
- Lastly for now, make your own decisions. Experts are there like consultants, you can take their advice and blindly follow them and lose. Ivybot has made a few decisions that I didn’t agree with, so they enter a trade and I cancel the order; then make a opposite order and continue my recovery from my original loss. sometimes when your see the charts, it is better to do nothing, regardless of what the experts say. Learn the charts
- Enjoy what you are doing; if you can’t afford to enjoy and learn, don’t get involved with Forex.

Why I Hate Some Uses of Autoresponders
Sure I can agree that autoresponders serve a valuable purpose and when used correctly they are a valuable tool. I do use them with great success with some of my programs.
For the newbie’s, perhaps a quick introduction will help you. Take a look at http://www.akamarketing.com/autoresponders-what-are-they.html some excepts follow.
“What are Autoresponders?
by David Callan
Autoresponders are just that, they’re programs set up to automatically respond with an designated email when a blank email is sent to a certain email address.
Basically Autoresponders are “email on demand” bots which make your information available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year and believe me when I say they can dramatically increase your sales without any work because they can.
Autoresponders are very important tools when you need to automate your Internet marketing efforts. You can easily process over 50,000+ requests daily without any effort on your part!
They’re used mainly for three things
- Sales Letters
- Customer Support
- Email gathering
Autoresponders are truly amazing marketing tools which even the smallest of companies can use. With them you can automate your marketing campaigns and connect with your customers and potential customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this in turn will help you sell more.”
If you do any emailing, then surely you have seen “I’m Out of the Office till” or “Your message could not be delivered” Actually I would rather get some kind of feedback, then have my email dropped in some black hole and never get any response.
In researching this post, I found
http://partmaps.org/era/mail/autoresponder-faq.html I found this interesting article “Moronic Mail Autoresponders (A FAQ From Hell)” The writer offers some good points and some useful links.
I particularly like this post “I am extremely overworked, and will probably not be able to respond within what is considered a normal time frame (something like 3 days). I’ll hopefully be able to get back to you after Christmas 2003.”
Here I can feel empathy for the person and look forward to a response which is better that getting a autoresponder without the folowup answer to my email.
Spamcop’s link http://www.spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/329.html “Why are auto responders bad?
“Lately, people find their automatic responses are being reported as spam or blocked. These “auto-responders” respond indiscriminately to forged and legitimate email. Spam and virus messages are almost invariably forged so as to appear to be “from” an unrelated third party. When an auto-responder receives one of these forged messages, they in turn send misdirected mail. Because of this, they become spam sources themselves and are the subject of blockades.
So back to the point of “Why I Hate Some Uses Of Autoresponders”
As I said before, none of us like emails to support sites that never respond, but what I hate is the lack of support or response from some of my up liners. This is a relationship business and when your upliner neglects your questions or mail, i find that very sad.
Throughout the business world, the customer must be our first order of business. Those up liners who seem to have forgotten how they got there, is in my opinion a gross breach of their responsibility.
For over 30 years I have been a success coach and to this day I try to respond to every email. Sure, this gets more difficult as your lines grow, but I continue to try. Further, the program that you are selling helps reduce the need for a lot of contact.
As a successful net marketer, I belong to several elite groups and privileged pre-launch lines. One of my frustrations, is I cannot reach many of these leaders, I won’t name them, but you will discover the same for yourself. Sort of too big for your bitches come to mind despite of how they promise to help you build your line
One of my lines seeds regular emails, and in the opening paragraph it says contact your sponsor if you have any questions. However when i had a shipping problem for a $5However when i had a shipping problem for a $500 item, no one was reachable. My sponsor sent me a lengthy autoresponder email trying to sell me the very same program that I have already joined, how ridiculous. I had a problem and didn’t get the help I needed, rather I got a sales email. I hate her use of the aotoresponders.
Another waste of my time is that I belong to several programs under a particular lady, who I cannot reach. The problem with her autoresponder’s is the i continue to get solicitations to join the programs of which I am already a member. What is wrong with her database and autoresponder. Far as I know when you join a program, a properly setup autoresponder should remove your name from the sales campaign.
Well that’s it for this post of Why I Hate Some Uses of Autoresponders
